Consular Authentication Process and Document list

A. Procedures are as follows: 

a. Submission of documents issued in India such as Affidavit, Declaration, Power of Attorney, Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate, Confirmation of No Criminal Record etc. to be notarized first by a local Notary Public and then to be authenticated by the Branch Secretariat, Kolkata, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India .

 b. Submission of documents authenticated by a local Notary Public and then to be authenticated by the Branch Secretariat, Kolkata, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, to be authenticated by the Chinese Consulate in Kolkata through China Visa Application Service Center, Kolkata. 

   B. Notice: 

 a. One certificate can only contain one document. One certificate that contains several documents will not be accepted for authentication. 

 b. Documents issued in China, such as Passport, Registration of Company will not be accepted for authentication. 

 c. Applications will not be accepted if the contents of the documents are against Chinese laws.

 d. The Chinese Consulate authenticates only the official signature and seal of the Branch Secretariat, Kolkata, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and will not be responsible for the contents of the documents. 

 e. Documents authenticated by the a local Notary Public and the Branch Secretariat , Kolkata, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and the Consulate General of China in Kolkata should be in their original shape. Applicants should not dismantle original documents (notarized or authenticated) or stitch some other pages to the original documents, and should bear all responsibility for any such action aroused. 

  C. Documents to be submitted:

c. The original and a copy of the document to be authenticated;

d. Signed Covering Letter with attestation purpose and the list of the commercial attestation document from the Company of the applicant;

e. Signed Covering Letter with attestation purpose and the list of the attestation document from the applicant himself/herself if it is for civil use; 

f. The original and a copy of the applicants passport or IC; 

g. If the application is submitted by an agent, the original and a copy of the agent's passport or IC are also required;

h. Other documents consular officials require.
